Hi, I’m Ida – and I love to explore the world.

Hallo! Hola! Привет! Hello! Oi! Kumusta?

"hello" in German, Spanish, Russian, ENGLISH, BRAZILIAN and Tagalog (PHILIPPINES)

I was born and raised in Kaiserslautern, Germany – and this will always be my home base. It’s also the starting point for many of the adventures I share here.

I’m a free spirit with a deep curiosity for cultures, nature, and food. Ever since I was little, I’ve loved documentaries and discovering how beautiful, diverse, and wild the world can be.

I enjoy capturing moments with my camera, trying out local dishes (and cooking them myself), and experiencing life like a local – which is why I prefer vacation apartments over hotels. They offer flexibility, creative freedom in the kitchen, and a cozy place to recharge. All-inclusive trips? Fun for a few days, but I get bored quickly.

I plan our travels to be as affordable as possible – but without cutting corners. Comfort matters, a rental car is a must, and good food is always worth the splurge.

The amazing guy by my side is Mark. He used to love all-inclusive resorts, works in tech, and feels his best in warm climates. Together, we laugh, goof around, and never say no to a ridiculous joke.

I won’t say any more, otherwise someone else will fall in love 😉

one day baby we'll be old <3

Childhood Travels

As a kid, I spent every summer vacation with my family – often camping in Italy or Spain, or in mobile homes. I still remember the long overnight drives, the smell of the sea in the morning, and the joy of eating outside. Sometimes, we’d visit my grandparents in Russia, traveling overnight by train from Moscow to Cheboksary – always an adventure.

Growing Up

Later, I cruised the Mediterranean with my parents, worked for Go-Youth Travel, studied abroad in China, and even traveled to Brazil for my brother’s wedding.

Recent Adventures

One of the most unforgettable trips was visiting Mark’s family in the Philippines. We saw turtles, swam with clownfish, and snorkeled through schools of fish. It was a dream come true.

Still, our favorite place to unwind is the Canary Islands. They’re not just sunny beach destinations – they’re wild, colorful, and full of surprises. From black and white sand beaches to lava pools and dramatic cliffs, the Canaries have it all. Our favorite island is Tenerife, but every island has its own soul.

Me Today

I work full time, love my family, our cats, and – of course – traveling. One day, I hope to live by the sea, visit every continent, and keep discovering the magic of castles, forests, and culture.

Taking photos brings me joy. Writing? Not so easy – but this blog is a dream come true. I believe in the power of good research and personal tips when planning a trip. That’s why I created this space: to inspire, share, and connect with others.

This blog is my living photo album and travel diary – open to the world. I’d love to hear from you if something here inspired or helped you.

xoxo, Ida
